Jim Hickey has a goal in mind. The Marine veteran and kidney cancer survivor has walked across Colorado more than 8,500 miles to help other cancer patients, with Saturday’s walk marking his seventh overall since starting the trek. Each walk aims to benefit patients facing cancer in Colorado by raising money, awareness, and support.
The 2-year-old Braxton Hankins, who is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia, benefited from the walk on Saturday. Despite coming into remission in November of last year, Hankins continues to get treatment at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, which includes chemotherapy, spinal taps, blood and platelet transfusions, and other procedures.
Braxton Hankins is part of the Ameritech Family as his Grandfather is part of the leadership team!
Phil Long Dealerships assisted Hickey as he traveled up to Aurora to the hospital where Hankins is being treated beginning on Saturday at Motor City in Colorado Springs. In addition to giving to a Hankins fundraiser, Phil Long Dealerships supported the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
