Window Repair in Denver: Can Yours Be Fixed, or Is It Time to Replace?

Ameritech is a replacement company, so we won't sell you a repair. We will tell you straight which one you need. Start with the two-minute test below, or have us come out and check for free.

First, the honest part: we don’t repair windows

Ameritech Windows has built and installed replacement windows for Colorado homes since 1994. We don’t offer window repair, glass-only replacement, single-sash swaps, or hardware service. If your window can be fixed, a Denver glass shop will serve you better than we will, and we’ll tell you so on the phone rather than send a salesperson to your kitchen table.

What we can do is help you figure out which situation you’re in. Most people searching for window repair in Denver are looking at one of two things: a small part that has failed, which is a repair, or a window that has quietly stopped doing its job, which is not. The difference takes about two minutes to check.

The two-minute test: look between the panes

Stand at the window and look for fog, haze, or water droplets between the two layers of glass, not on the surface. If it’s there, the seal around the glass unit has failed and the insulating gas that made the window efficient has escaped. That moisture is trapped inside the sealed unit, so no cleaning product reaches it, and no lasting reseal exists. A failed seal is a replacement, not a repair, no matter how good the frame still looks.

Denver is hard on seals. At 5,280 feet the UV is roughly a quarter stronger than at sea level, and a 40-degree swing between an afternoon and the following morning is normal. Every swing flexes the glass against the spacer. Seals that last 25 years elsewhere often fail here in 12 to 15.

Fog between the panes is the single most common reason Denver homeowners call us, and it’s the clearest sign you’re looking at replacement rather than repair.

Other signs the window itself is done

  • Frames that are soft, warped, or won’t hold paint. Rot or UV breakdown in the frame can’t be patched in a way that holds a seal.
  • Drafts you can feel with the window closed. Weatherstripping helps for a season; a frame that has moved away from the wall does not stop moving.
  • Sashes that won’t stay up, won’t lock, or bind in the track in more than one window. One is hardware. Several is the frames.
  • Single-pane glass, or any window over 20 years old in a house you plan to keep. Repairing it keeps a window that is costing you money every month.
  • Condensation on the inside surface every cold morning. The glass is too cold, which means it’s no longer insulating.

When repair is the right call, and who to call

Plenty of window problems are genuinely fixable, and you shouldn’t replace a good window for any of these:

  • A broken crank, operator, lock, or latch. Hardware is replaceable. A Denver window hardware or glass shop stocks most of it.
  • A torn or bent screen. Any screen shop, same day.
  • One cracked pane in an otherwise sound, clear double-pane window. A glass shop can replace just the sealed glass unit.
  • Worn weatherstripping on a window that is otherwise tight and clear.
  • Sticky sliding door rollers or a gritty track. Rollers and tracks are serviceable parts.

If that’s your situation, you don’t need us. Search for a window or glass repair shop in Denver and ask for a quote on the specific part.

Sliding glass and patio door repair in Denver

Patio doors follow the same rule. Rollers, tracks, handles, and locks are repairs. Fog between the glass, a frame that has bowed so the door drags or gaps at the top, or cold air pouring around the edges with the door latched are replacement signs. Ameritech replaces sliding and hinged patio doors along with windows, and a patio door is often the single biggest source of heat loss in a Denver home.

Repair or replace? The quick table

What you’re seeingUsually a repairUsually a replacement
Fog, haze, or water between the panesYes, the seal has failed
One cracked pane, window otherwise clear and tightYes, glass shop
Broken crank, lock, or latchYes, hardware
Drafts with the window closedSometimes, weatherstrippingIf the frame has shifted or rotted
Several windows that bind, sag, or won’t lockYes, the frames are failing
Single-pane glass or windows over 20 years oldYes, on efficiency alone
Sliding door drags on the trackYes, rollersIf the frame is bowed

If it’s replacement, this is what Denver homeowners get from Ameritech

  • Triple-pane glass at double-pane prices. The third pane is what makes the difference in a climate with 40-degree daily swings and highway noise, and we price it without the usual penalty.
  • Hybrid vinyl and composite frames built for altitude. Designed for Front Range UV, hail, and freeze-thaw, not adapted from a window made for Ohio.
  • Made for your openings, installed by our own crews. Since 1994, over 100,000 windows in Colorado homes. Most houses are finished in one to two days, any season.
  • Meets Colorado’s 2026 energy code. U-factor 0.30 or better on every replacement window we install.
  • Lifetime warranty, registered and backed locally. The company that installs your windows is the one that answers the phone in ten years.
  • 4.7 stars across 900+ Google reviews. Read them before you call us.

One thing to know before you call: we work in groups of windows

Because every window we install is custom built and installed by our own crew, we take on projects of several windows at a time, typically three or more, rather than single-window jobs. If you have one bad window in a house full of good ones, a repair shop is the right answer and we’ll say so. If the fogged one is the first of several the same age, that’s usually the moment to look at the whole house once, while the crew is there.

What happens next

  1. Free in-home assessment. We look at every window, tell you which ones are failing and which are fine, and if repair is the answer we say that too.
  2. Firm quote. You choose styles and glass; you get a written price that doesn’t move.
  3. Custom build. Your windows are made to your exact openings.
  4. Installation. One to two days for most Denver homes, one opening at a time so the house never sits open to the cold.

Call (303) 444-1998 or use the quote form on this page. Not sure which side of the table you’re on? Send a photo of the window in the form and we’ll tell you before anyone comes out.

Denver window repair questions

Can a foggy window be repaired?

Not in any lasting way. Fog between the panes means the sealed glass unit has failed. The unit itself can sometimes be swapped by a glass shop if the frame is sound and fairly new; in an older window, replacing the whole window is the better use of the money.

Does Ameritech repair windows?

No. We build and install replacement windows and doors. If your problem is a repair, we’ll tell you and point you toward a Denver glass or hardware shop.

How do I know if my window seal has failed?

Look for fog, haze, or droplets between the glass layers that don’t change when you wipe either side. That moisture is trapped inside the sealed unit.

Will you replace just one window?

Usually not. Our projects are typically three or more windows, because each one is custom built and installed by our own crew. A single window is a job for a repair shop.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace windows in Denver?

A hardware or single-pane repair is cheaper than a new window. A failed seal, a rotted frame, or a set of 20-year-old single-pane windows costs more to keep than to replace once you count heating, cooling, and the next repair. The free assessment tells you which you have.
